Diani Beach, on Kenya’s south coast, is a long stretch of white sand lined with palms and protected by a coral reef. It is the classic way to end a safari: a few days of swimming, snorkelling and seafood after the dust of the parks.
The wider Kenya coast includes Watamu and Malindi to the north and the historic island of Lamu.
Why visit Diani Beach & the Kenya Coast
After an early-morning safari rhythm, Diani lets you slow down. The reef keeps the water calm for swimming, and there is plenty to do if you want to stay active.
Animals you can see
- Dolphins and sea turtles (Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park)
- Colobus monkeys in the coastal forest
- Humpback whales (seasonal, roughly July–October)
- Whale sharks (seasonal)
- Reef fish on the coral gardens
Best time to visit
December to March and July to October are the most reliable. The long rains fall roughly April to June.
